Pakistan Closes Airspace, Suspends Trade With India Amid Kashmir Tensions

Pakistan has shut its airspace to Indian airlines and suspended all trade with India after New Delhi halted the Indus Waters Treaty and downgraded diplomatic ties over the Kashmir attack.

Pakistan closed its airspace to all Indian-owned and operated airlines on Thursday, disrupting major flight routes.

Islamabad also suspended all trade and bilateral agreements with India, including goods transiting through Pakistan.

India previously suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and ordered its citizens to leave Pakistan after blaming Islamabad for the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Pakistan warned that any attempt to divert water under the treaty would be considered an “act of war.”

The moves mark the sharpest escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors since the 2019 crisis.
