EU Moves to Scrap Tariffs on US Industrial Goods Amid Pressure from Trump Administration

In a bid to ease transatlantic trade tensions, the European Union is preparing to eliminate all tariffs on U.S. industrial goods by the end of the week.

The European Union is reportedly drawing up plans to remove duties on American industrial products in an effort to meet demands from U.S. President Donald Trump. The move marks one of the bloc’s most significant overtures in recent years to de-escalate long-running trade disputes that have strained relations across the Atlantic.

Negotiations between Brussels and Washington have been tense, centering on Washington’s criticism of EU trade barriers and calls for more market access for U.S. manufacturers. Trump, who has repeatedly threatened tariffs on European auto exports, has made the issue a priority in ongoing talks.

The proposal, sources told, could be finalized before the end of the week and is designed to demonstrate “good faith” in averting a new round of trade restrictions. EU officials are said to be considering fast-tracking the plan through internal approval mechanisms in order to present it as a concrete offer to Washington.

While the U.S. is expected to view the move as a positive step, analysts caution that significant differences remain over agricultural products, digital taxation, and subsidies for major industries such as aviation and green technology.

Trade experts say that if fully implemented, the elimination of tariffs on U.S. industrial goods could represent a breakthrough in EU-U.S. trade relations, potentially boosting exports and supporting struggling manufacturers on both sides of the Atlantic.
