Nicholas Ukachukwu Secures APC Ticket for Anambra Governorship Race Amid Primary Controversy.

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, defeating Valentine Ozigbo with 1,455 votes to 67 in the party's primary.

This victory positions Ukachukwu as the APC's candidate for the November 8, 2025, election.

Ukachukwu, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Orumba North/South federal constituency of Anambra State, officially joined the APC in January 2025.

He had previously been a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and cited his desire to connect Anambra State more closely with the federal government as a key reason for his party switch.

In March 2025, the APC cleared seven aspirants, including Ukachukwu and Ozigbo, to contest the party's primary election.

The screening committee, chaired by former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, issued Certificates of Clearance to all aspirants, with Ozigbo receiving a waiver to participate.

During his campaign, Ukachukwu emphasized his commitment to tackling issues such as insecurity, poverty, and hardship in Anambra State.

He pledged to address these challenges within three months of assuming office if elected.

Additionally, he expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, stating that Tinubu is working to rebuild the country and does not harbor any bias against the Igbo people.

Ukachukwu's emergence as the APC candidate sets the stage for a competitive gubernatorial race in Anambra State, as he prepares to challenge candidates from other parties in the November election.
