2027 Elections: Presidential, National Assembly Campaigns Kick Off Today.

Nigeria’s political season officially enters a new phase today as campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections commence, with 150 days remaining until voters head to the polls on January 16, 2027.

Political parties and their candidates can now begin full-scale campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly positions ahead of the elections.

The commencement of campaigns marks the transition from party-level preparations and political manoeuvring to direct engagement with voters. Candidates are expected to use the coming months to outline their policies, promote their records and persuade Nigerians to support their respective platforms.

The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, while elections into the National Assembly will be held on the same day.

The campaign period is expected to bring increased political activities across the country, including rallies, town hall meetings, media engagements, grassroots mobilisation and digital campaigns.

As the countdown begins, political parties are also expected to focus on presenting clear programmes and addressing issues that matter to voters, including the economy, security, employment, education, healthcare and infrastructure.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a detailed timetable for the elections and is expected to continue preparations ahead of Election Day.

With 150 days left, the 2027 elections are now moving from the planning stage into an active campaign season, setting the stage for what is expected to be a closely watched political contest.
