Houthis Claim Missile and Drone Strikes on Saudi Aramco Facilities

Yemen’s Houthi movement said it launched two retaliatory strikes on Saudi Arabia overnight, targeting Saudi Aramco facilities in the cities of Jizan and Yanbu with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, following Saudi airstrikes on Hodeidah and Kamaran Island.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group carried out two coordinated operations, claiming the attacks successfully struck Aramco facilities in Jizan and Yanbu. According to the Houthis, the operation was in response to what they described as Saudi aggression against Hodeidah and Kamaran Island in western Yemen.

The reported strikes came hours after the Saudi-led coalition announced airstrikes on military targets in Yemen’s Hodeidah governorate, saying the sites were being used to threaten commercial shipping in the Red Sea. Houthi media reported that telecommunications facilities in Hodeidah and locations on Kamaran Island were hit during the attacks.

Saudi authorities issued civil defence alerts in Jizan and Yanbu following the reported attacks but have not confirmed damage to Aramco facilities. Independent verification of the Houthi claims has not yet been released.

The exchange marks another escalation in tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, raising renewed concerns over regional security and the safety of energy infrastructure and shipping routes in the Red Sea.
