FIFA Confirms Punishments After Argentina-Spain Clash

FIFA has announced disciplinary sanctions following the heated scenes after the Argentina-Spain clash, with Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes receiving a 10-match international suspension.

Paredes has been hit with a 10-game ban and $90,000 fine, while Nahuel Molina will miss seven international matches and has also been fined $90,000.

Thiago Almada receives a one-match ban and $30,000 fine, while Argentina coach Roberto Ayala has been suspended for three matches and fined $30,000.

Spain’s Gavi has been given a one-match suspension alongside a $30,000 fine.

All five sanctions apply to national-team fixtures, rather than club football.

Paredes and Molina’s lengthy suspensions leave Argentina facing a significant selection headache ahead of their next international commitments.
