CAF Raises Annual Funding for African Football Associations to $700,000

CAF Raises Annual Funding for African Football Associations to $700,000

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased its annual financial allocation to its 54 Member Associations from $525,000 to as much as $700,000, in a move aimed at strengthening football development across Africa.

Under the new funding arrangement, Zonal Unions will receive $900,000, while the African Clubs Association (ACA) will benefit from an increased allocation of $500,000.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said the increased financial support reflects the organisation’s commitment to improving football structures and creating more sustainable development opportunities across the continent.

The additional funding is expected to help national associations improve their administrative operations, invest in grassroots programmes and expand opportunities for young players and women in football.

Since assuming office, Motsepe has prioritised financial investment in African football, with an emphasis on strengthening national federations and helping them build sustainable operations rather than relying solely on external support.

The initiative also aligns with CAF’s broader efforts to improve the quality of football competitions, nurture emerging talent and create stronger pathways for the next generation of African players.

The revised allocations represent a significant increase in the resources available to national associations and regional football bodies. However, the long-term benefits will depend on how effectively the funds are managed and channelled into football development programmes.

CAF’s latest move reinforces its ambition to build a stronger and more financially sustainable football system across Africa.
